This offer is valid if you purchase your ski pass at the same time as your accommodation through the Val Thorens Réservation reservation centre, through your accommodation provider with an « all inclusive » formula, or through a tour operator whose brochure shows our "snow guarantee" logo. Lastly, you can also benefit from this offer if you buy your ski pass directly through our website at least one month before the 1st day of its validity.

Confident in the quality of its snow cover, Val Thorens offers the possibility to book your winter sports holiday without worrying about the lack of snow, with the introduction of its unique "Snow Guarantee". Thanks to its remarkable location, Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe, has a ski area of which 99% is situated above an altitude of 2000 metres. This ski area is equipped with modern infrastructures providing artificial snow-making facilities over nearly 40% of its surface .. This is why Val Thorens has created its « snow guarantee », unusual in the fact that, for the first time, a resort is capable of ensuring, one year in advance, that at least 70% of its ski lifts will be open, and this over more than 4 months !
Val Thorens guarantees that at least 70% of the Val Thorens-Orelle ski lifts will be open between 25th December 2007 and 1st May 2008, on average during the week (from Saturday to Friday inclusive). If, due to lack of snow, less than 70% of the Val Thorens-Orelle ski lifts are open on average during a week, the Setam will give you a credit voucher for one or more days. Between 60% and 69% of the ski lifts open (Val Thorens-Orelle ski area) → credit voucher for one day on the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area (valid the same week, i.e. for example a 7th day following on to a 6 day ski pass, or later in the season, or the next year). Between 50% and 59% of the ski lifts open (Val Thorens-Orelle ski area) → credit voucher for 2 days on the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area Between 40% and 49% of the ski lifts open (Val Thorens-Orelle ski area) → credit voucher for 3 days on the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area Less than 40% of the ski lifts open (Val Thorens-Orelle ski area) → credit voucher for 4 days on the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area This offer is also valid for holders of a Belleville or 3 Vallées ski pass purchased in Val Thorens or Orelle, but the credit voucher will only be valid for the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area. To benefit from this offer, you must be a holder of a valid ski pass of 6 days or more, and be staying in Val Thorens or Orelle. The calculation will be undertaken each week based on our 29 ski lifts, all of which serve at least one open piste (except the Orelle gondola, which serves no piste). If a lift is closed for several hours or days due to a technical problem or bad weather (wind, storm, heavy snow falls etc), this offer is not valid. The offer is also not valid for holders of free ski passes (children under 5 years old, seniors over 75 years old etc) or for « season » passes. You will have to complete a form available at the Setam and Stor ski pass ticket offices, as well as on our Internet sites (valthorens.com and neigegarantie.com). Within a delay or 15 days after your departure you should have handed in or sent us this form, accompanied by your ski pass and proof of your stay in Val Thorens or Orelle (a copy of your accommodation voucher, bill ...).
With its exceptional natural assets (99% of the ski area situated above an altitude of 2000 m), Val Thorens is also well known for the quality of its infrastructures (« ski from the doorstop » resort) and the modernity of its ski lifts (rapid links between sectors, varied skiing throughout the ski area with minimum waiting time ..) For all snow sports, for all levels ! Val Thorens is above all a snow sport paradise. Thanks to its exceptional snow cover and the configuration of its terrain, all types of snow sports find their place : pretty easy near the resort, becoming more technical the further one moves away. To offer you more guarantees and make the winter season longer (resort open from November to May), Val Thorens has also got 352 high performing snow making machines which cover nearly 40% of the ski area ... Thanks to the average altitude of the ski area, these snow making machines become efficient in the Autumn, because they can only work at relatively low temperatures, which are only guaranteed above 2000 metres. This is also why Val Thorens is a real « ski from the doorstep » resort from the end of November to the beginning of May ! New in 2007/2008 : 20 millions Euros have been invested for the winter 2007/2008 by the SETAM (Tarentaise-Maurienne Ski Lift Company) to replace the old Cairn and Caron gondolas with 2 new automatic gondolas (8 seats with skis carried inside). The turnovers of the new machines have been doubled, the stations, with their modern architecture, offer different services such as toilets, escalators, waiting rooms exhibitions, ticket offices ... There are specially adapted facilities for the transport of handicapped skiers (10% of the cabins have been specially designed to aid the transport of wheelchairs) and of beginners, with, notably the installation of a lift. The new blue piste, created under the gondola, starting from the resort offers an easy access to the bottom of the ski area, which starts at an altitude of 1800 metres and goes up to 3230 metres. This is the largest ski lift project in the France for the year 2007.
